Sodium Alginate Products

SNP manufactures highly refined sodium alginate products produced from brown seaweed. Sodium alginate is a natural polysaccharide, which is completely soluble in cold or hot water. The SNP sodium alginate products provide smooth solutions compatible with other thickeners, synthetic resins, waxes, pigments, various surfactants, and alkali metal solutions. The unique hydrophilic characteristic of sodium alginate provides superior water holding properties in many industrial applications.

Quick Dispersible Sodium Alginate
"QD-Series"

SNP “QD-Series” are chemically modified quick dispersing sodium alginate products for use in the paper, textile and other specialty industries. The “QD” series was designed so that it could be added directly to water or coating without the use of an eductor. The “QD-Series” of sodium alginate quickly disperses into the aqueous phase without clumping. The product particles are then solublilized to the final viscosity of a standard “C-Series” product. The “QD-Series” offers the process advantage of easier makedown along with the excellent water holding properties of the standard “C-series”.

"QS-Series"

SNP “QS-Series” are chemically modified, quick solublilizing sodium alginate products for use in the paper, textile and other specialty industries. The “QS” series was designed to provide faster solubility in aqueous solution or pigmented coating. The “QS-Series” offers the process advantage of faster makedown along with the excellent water holding properties of the standard “C-series”.

Liquid Sodium Alginate
"S-3000-L-Series"

SNP “L-Series” are liquid sodium alginate products for use in the paper, textile and other specialty industries. The “L” series was designed to enable the use of sodium alginate in those applications where a liquid product is necessary and/or preferred. The “L-Series” offers the process advantage of faster makedown of the “QS-series” along with the excellent water holding properties of the standard “C-series” in a liquid form.

The “L-Series” liquid sodium alginate products are freeze/thaw stable, require no alkali to activate, are easy to handle, and can be conveniently disposed.

The standrad viscosity range of the “C-Series” sodium alginate products can be produced as liquid sodium alginate products. The “S-3000-L Series” of sodium alginates are designed to meet specific customer requirements with regard to desired rheological properties and handling.

Product Description: Tan liquid at 20 to 23% solids
