Polyvinyl Alcohol Emulsifying Synthetic Polymers: S-1500 Series

Polyvinyl alcohol is a water soluble polymer that has excellent film forming, emulsifying and adhesive properties. It has high tensile strength and flexibility, is resistant to oil, grease and solvents and provides an excellent oxygen and aroma barrier. It’s environmentally friendly as well. Polyvinyl alcohol is odorless, nontoxic, is fully degradable and depending on the product specifications, dissolves quickly in hot or warm water.

It is used in a wide variety of applications such as:

Paper coatings, size press film former
Water-soluble film useful for packaging
Textile sizing agent
Paper adhesive when combined with boric acid in spiral tube winding and solid board production
Release liners
Ink jet coating binder
Optical Brightness carrier
Thickener, modifier, in polyvinyl acetate glues
Mold release for casting, such as epoxies
Feminine hygiene and adult incontinence products as a biodegradable plastic backing sheet
Will make slime when combined with Borax
Carbon dioxide barrier in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles
As an additive in offset printing fountain solutions
PVA fiber, as reinforcement in concrete
As a surfactant for the formation of polymer encapsulated nanobeads
