Dry Chemical & Alginate Manufacturing

SNP carries four series of natural water soluble polymers; C series; G series; X series; and N series.

The C series are sodium alginate products for use in papermaking, paper coatings, textiles, printing and certain specialty industries.

The C Series provide excellent water retention, reduced porosity for release grades and improved binder flexibility, improved pigment dispersion, increased coating thixotropy, and both high resolution and high quality fine line printing.

The following products are in our C Series: S-15-C; S-50-C; S-160-C; S-500-C; and S-1300-C. They range in viscosity from 15 to 900 cps in a 1% solution. The products are supplied as a cream/light tan granular powder of various molecular weights.

Guar Gum products make up the G Series. SNP offers three types of guars: de-polymerized guar; cationic guar, and borated guar. Guars, which are cream/yellow-powder, are used in the paper making and textile printing industries. In paper making, guars improve paper formation, increase sheet stiffness, and increase dry strength. The textile industry uses guars to prevent the migration of dye stuffs.

SNP carries the following G Series products: S-4030-G; S-4500-G, and S-4000-GC, and we can produce them in viscosities ranging from 40 to 5000 cps.

The X Series, which is mainly Xanthan gum, is a cream-colored powder used in the oil well drilling and mining industries.

Xanthan gum is a heteropolysaccharid that easily dissolves in both hot and cold water.

Xanthan gum solutions are pseudoplastic, and the measured viscosity decreases rapidly as the shear rate is increased. This gum is remarkable in that the viscosity of its aqueous solutions is nearly independent of temperature over a wide range.

Our X Series contains S-5070-X and S-5070-XQD and can be manufactured at viscosities ranging from 500-2000 cps.

The N series are uniquely modified sodium alginates, were developed for use in the size press where high Gurley porosity values are needed, such as postcard, OGWR (oil, grease and water resistant) and silicone release grades.

These engineered sodium alginates can be made at viscosities from 400-900 cps. This series contains S-500-N and S-1300-N.
