OPV are coatings applied after printing to provide aesthetic properties or to protect the print. SNP’s polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) offer excellent gloss, stain resistance, abrasion resistance, anti-blocking properties, and moisture resistance. Some of our polyurethanes can provide a matte finish instead of a glossy finish.

Polyvinyl alcohol can be used as an additive in offset lithographic printing fountain solutions. It acts as a protective film-former and viscosity control agent. Fountain solutions are water-based solutions applied immediately before or after the ink is applied to the printing plates.

SNP’s polyurethane dispersions (PUDs)  are used as binders in ink vehicles, providing the ink with gloss, hardness and adhesion. We can formulate our polyurethanes to be flexible and to exhibit excellent elasticity. Our polyurethanes have excellent adhesion to many different substrates.

Gravure and flexographic water-based inks based formulated with polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) can be printed on paper, film, and textiles.  SNP’s PUDs are used as binders in ink vehicles, providing the ink with gloss, hardness, and excellent adhesion to many different substrates. We can formulate our polyurethanes to be flexible and to exhibit excellent elasticity.

Acrylic/SB emulsions are used in gravure and flexographic ink formulations to provide high gloss and good oil, grease, water and rub resistance.  The acrylic/SB emulsions provide excellent runnability or rewettability on gravure and flexographic printing presses.

Polyvinyl alcohol is a very strong binder that can be used in inkjet and other digital printing formulations. The viscosity of the polyvinyl alcohol solution can be controlled to meet required specifications.

Acrylic/SB emulsions are used as binders in digital and inkjet printing formulations.  They impart excellent binding strength and adhesion and allow precise rheology control and fast drying that is required.

Sodium alginate can be used as a color bleed inhibitor in digital and inkjet printing inks.

Ethylene acrylic acid (EAA) copolymers provide excellent adhesion and are used as the base for digital indigo print primers to provide increased adhesion of the ink to the substrate. EAAs adheres to a wide range of materials and provide excellent resistance to puncture tear and abrasion.

Polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) based aqueous primers are used in both digital inkjet and digital indigo printing to provide increased adhesion of the ink to the substrate.

When used as primers for printing, SNP’s polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) have excellent adhesion. This allows printers to forgo surface treatment of the substrate.

Many formulators hope to achieve the rheology they need from their base resins but often rheology modifiers are used to adjust the flow properties of inks.

SNP’s rheology modifiers can:

  • Improve flow and leveling
  • Control pigment settling
  • Improve your penetration/holdout
  • Control the temperature stability of your product

Our technical department is available to work with you to develop the rheology of your inks from start to finish.
