What is a Material Handling Eductor?

October 21st, 2020

An eductor, also known as a hootonanny or liquid jet pump, is a simple type of pump that uses the Venturi effect to pump or move a fluid (air, liquid or gas) in an enclosed line. This device has no moving parts, instead relying on only a motive fluid to operate. An eductor system uses fluid mechanics to transfer energy from one fluid to another via the Venturi effect, in which flow is restricted to create a partial vacuum.

Oil & Grease Resistance Test Methods

August 8th, 2019

In this presentation you will learn about three important test methods used to quantify the barrier properties of coating materials applied to paper/paperboard substrates. Test procedures will be outlined and reviewed, along with the mechanisms of surface wetting by fats and oils. The benefits and drawbacks of each method will be presented. An alternative test method is presented providing advantages over the currently utilized methods.

Rheology Modifiers

January 1st, 2016

All materials start with an original form at rest that resists flow when an applied shear force is applied. This resistance is due to internal forces that result from interactions between material components. Viscosity is the measurement of this resistance to flow and is a core concept of rheology.
