Ethylene Acrylic Acid (EAA)

EAA Copolymer Dispersions

SNP supplies aqueous dispersions of ethylene acrylic acid (EAA) copolymer. The dispersions provide benefits from a combination of chemistries: ethylene and acrylic acid. Send us an email or call to start a conversation about working with us.

SNP’s polyvinyl alcohols provide outstanding performance in textile manufacturing, including:

Solvent resistance

Water and moisture resistance

Ethylene-Acrylic acid (EAA) copolymer dispersions provide benefits from a combination of chemistries: ethylene and acrylic acid. Ethylene provides crystallinity chemical, water and moisture resistance and acrylic acid provides adhesion, polarity, toughness and strength. Through this combination, EAA copolymers provide resistance to various fluids while providing excellent physical resistance to puncture, tear and abrasion.

Ethylene acrylic acid copolymers are designed to perform based on three basic properties of the chemistry:

  • These dispersions stick well to many different surfaces including cellulosic, textile/nonwoven, treated and untreated film, metal, glass, concrete, and polymer foams.
  • They make excellent primer compounds as other materials stick well to EAA.
  • Their melt flow and wetting properties make them a product of choice for use in aqueous heat seal compounds.

These materials are components in compounds for paper and paperboard packaging, flexible film packaging, textiles, and liquid toner digital printing coatings.
