SNP Liquid Products

SNP makes a wide range of water-based liquids for compounding high performance specialty coatings, adhesives, and treatments. The effects of these materials may be seen from the additive level (a few percent) to compounds where the liquid is the major component. Liquid materials offer the benefit of fitting well into the addition capabilities of almost every industrial compounding process.

Our materials are custom-made, and our technicians are available every step of the way to help you find the right product for every application. Get started today by giving us a call!

S-1400 Series 1K Water Borne Polyurethane Dispersions:

SNP’s product line leads the trend toward more environmentally friendly solutions to coatings for a range of substrates including; metal, wood, concrete, textiles & nonwovens, paper and plastic films. 1K water borne products are a simple way to implement the high performance of polyurethanes into existing compounds. They are highly stable and have an extended shelf life, unlike 2K systems which are only viable for a few hours.

Polyurethanes have exceptional performance characteristics compared to those of traditional synthetic latexes, including: strength/flexibility, cold temperature performance, toughness & durability, adhesion, and weatherability. SNP’s polyurethanes are either added to, or completely replace, other polymers to improve coating performance.

SNP’s product line includes polyurethanes based on a range of different polyols, the gamut of performance (from soft and flexible to very firm), and a range of co-solvents (from NMP, to non-NMP, to co-solvent-free products). Each product is custom-made to meet your specifications.

S-1500 Series Liquid Polyvinyl Alcohols:

Customers turn to SNP for liquid polyvinyl alcohol products for three reasons:

  1. They don’t have the equipment to “cook” the dry product into a liquid
  2. The process of preparation from dry to liquid is too disruptive of their process
  3. They cannot tolerate the VOC release (up to 5% methanol) that occurs during cooking.

Polyvinyl alcohol is a water soluble polymer that forms a very high strength, semi-flexible film. It is used across multiple industries due to its ability to bind and to absorb water. Common applications include: paper, coatings, adhesives, textiles, emulsion polymerization, and graphic arts. SNP’s liquid polyvinyl alcohols span the entire range of molecular weight and degree of hydrolysis.

S-1600 Series Water Borne Polyester Based Dispersions:

These are dispersions based on polyethylene terephthalate. They are used to create aqueous coatings with exceptional resistance to water, oil, and grease. They provide excellent performance in the paper and paperboard packaging and textile industries.

These dispersions may be used as-is, or compounded with additional additives to address customer-specific needs. These waterborne polyester dispersions are extremely popular compared to their latex-based competitors because of the ability of just a thin coat to act as a resistant barrier. Application may be done using a range of different techniques common to the paper, graphic arts, and textile industries.

S-1900 Series Water Borne Ethylene Acrylic Acid Dispersions:

Ethylene acrylic acid copolymers are designed to perform based on three basic properties of the chemistry:

  • These dispersions stick well to many different surfaces including cellulosic, textile/nonwoven, treated and untreated film, metal, glass, concrete, and polymer foams.
  • They make excellent “primer” compounds as other materials stick well to EAA
  • Their melt flow and wetting properties make them a product of choice for use in aqueous heat seal compounds.

These materials are components in compounds for paper and paperboard packaging, flexible film packaging, textiles, and liquid toner digital printing coatings.
